As the Light Goes Out
On a sweltering Christmas Eve in 2013, Hong Kong stands on the precipice of disaster. As a tropical depression looms over the city, the firefighters of the LKT Fire Station are pushed to their limits. At the heart of the tension are three men bound by a complicated history: Sam, a seasoned veteran mentoring a new recruit; Yip, a high-ranking officer whose career has been defined by rapid advancement; and Chill, a man still living under the shadow of a past disciplinary inquiry. The fragile peace between these colleagues is shattered when a winery fire on Menford Street threatens a critical natural gas pipeline connected to a major power station. Despite urgent warnings, operational disagreements and reckless management decisions lead to a catastrophic explosion. The resulting city-wide blackout plunges the power station into darkness, trapping civilians and firefighters alike within a crumbling, smoke-filled labyrinth. With the city’s infrastructure paralyzed and no backup available, the team must navigate a treacherous, unstable environment to save those trapped inside. As they fight for survival against the encroaching inferno, the firefighters are forced to confront the psychological toll of their shared past and the professional grievances that have long divided them. *As the Light Goes Out* is a high-stakes exploration of duty, resilience, and the heavy burden of the choices we make under fire.
