The Guru
Ramu Gupta arrives in New York City with a singular vision: to become a famous actor. However, the reality of the American Dream proves far more complicated than he imagined. After discovering that his friend Vijay is living in squalor rather than the luxury he promised, Ramu finds himself working as an extra in low-budget adult films. There, he meets Sharrona, a fellow performer who is desperately hiding her career from her traditional, religious fiancé, Rusty. Ramu’s trajectory shifts abruptly when a case of mistaken identity at a high-society party leads him to be hailed as a spiritual leader. With the encouragement of socialite Lexi and the opportunistic Vijay, Ramu adopts the persona of "Guru Ramu," a sex-positive sage. Using advice he gleaned from Sharrona about intimacy and soul-searching, he begins charging exorbitant fees for private consultations. As his fame skyrockets and a high-powered agent, Josh Goldstein, prepares to turn him into a global sensation, Ramu finds himself trapped in a web of his own making. *The Guru* is a sharp satire that explores the performative nature of identity and the commodification of spirituality. As Ramu and Sharrona navigate their fraudulent lives, they must confront the mounting pressure of their lies and the fear of exposure. Can they maintain their fabricated personas, or will the weight of their secrets destroy everything they have built?
