DESCRIPTION

Erik Kernan Jr. is a struggling sportswriter for *The Denver Times*, desperate to escape his father’s shadow and secure a prestigious career. His personal life is equally fractured; he is separated from his wife, Joyce, and fighting to maintain a meaningful connection with his young son, Teddy. While covering a minor boxing match, Erik encounters an elderly, homeless man living in a shopping cart who claims to be the legendary heavyweight contender Battlin' Bob Satterfield. Seeing a path toward professional salvation, Erik pitches a feature story titled "Resurrecting the Champ" to his editor. As he interviews the man, who recounts vivid, heroic tales of sparring with icons like Rocky Marciano and Jake LaMotta, Erik becomes deeply invested in the narrative. The project promises him the acclaim he craves and a potential career-defining job offer from Showtime. However, as Erik digs deeper into the man’s past, the line between truth and fiction begins to blur. The story evolves into a high-stakes investigation that forces Erik to confront his own moral compass. Caught between his relentless ambition and the need for integrity, Erik must decide what he is willing to sacrifice for a headline. *Resurrecting the Champ* is a gripping exploration of fatherhood, the corrosive nature of professional desperation, and the thin, dangerous line between the stories we tell to survive and the lies that threaten to destroy everything.
