DESCRIPTION

Berlin, 1945. As the dust settles on the ruins of a war-torn city, American journalist Jacob Geismer arrives to cover the pivotal Potsdam peace conference. But the promise of a new era is quickly eclipsed by the shadows of the old. Amidst the chaos of the Allied occupation, Geismer crosses paths with his former lover, Lena Brandt, a woman struggling to survive in a city defined by desperation and moral decay. Lena is entangled with a corrupt American driver, and her missing husband—a mathematician once tied to a notorious Nazi rocket scientist—has become the most sought-after man in Europe. As both American and Soviet military authorities scramble to secure rocket expertise for the looming Cold War, Geismer finds himself pulled into a dangerous investigation following a brutal murder. What begins as a search for the truth spirals into a harrowing exploration of systemic corruption. Geismer uncovers a landscape where war crimes are overlooked for strategic gain and where the line between victim and perpetrator blurs. In a world where integrity is a liability and secrets are the only currency, Geismer must navigate a treacherous web of betrayal. As he digs deeper, he discovers that while the war may have ended, the moral rot that fueled it remains, leaving everyone trapped in a cycle of guilt, opportunism, and impossible choices.
