DESCRIPTION

In the wake of a devastating viral outbreak, the world has been transformed into a perilous landscape where the line between humanity and predatory instinct has blurred. The infection, marked by distinct physical symptoms and erratic, violent behavior, has left the remnants of society struggling to endure. Those who remain are hunted by the infected—creatures who retain human traits but possess a lethal sensitivity to the scent of blood. *Here Alone* follows two survivors, Chris and his stepdaughter Olivia, as they trek north in pursuit of a rumored sanctuary where the contagion is supposedly under control. Their journey takes a complicated turn when they encounter Ann, a woman living in self-imposed isolation within the woods. While Ann has successfully fortified a campsite, she remains paralyzed by the haunting grief and guilt of her past, choosing to remain in the danger zone as a form of penance. As Chris attempts to convince Ann to abandon her solitude and join their mission, the group faces an escalating struggle for resources. The film masterfully contrasts the characters' desperate attempts to maintain fragments of their former lives with the brutal, unforgiving reality of their environment. Caught between the safety of constant movement and the stagnation of trauma, the survivors must confront the harsh trade-offs required to stay alive in a world that demands they either adapt or succumb.
