Mr. Tree

In a rural village facing the relentless encroachment of the Ruiyang Mining Group, the landscape is shifting as rapidly as the social order. Amidst the systematic dismantling of his community to make way for the "New Sun City" development, Shu, a quiet and marginalized man, struggles to find his footing. Haunted by the trauma of his past and the weight of his brother’s death, Shu is often dismissed by his neighbors as eccentric and aimless. His life is further complicated by a strained marriage to a mute woman named Xiao Mei, whose family views his instability with deep apprehension. As industrialization erodes the traditional way of life, tensions reach a breaking point. However, when Shu makes an uncanny prediction regarding the mining operations, his status within the village undergoes a jarring transformation.
