Desperation

In the desolate expanse of the Nevada desert, a routine road trip descends into a waking nightmare for a group of unsuspecting travelers. When Peter and Mary Jackson, young David Carver, and cynical writer John Edward Marinville are pulled over near the remote town of Desperation, they find themselves at the mercy of Collie Entragian. This sadistic police officer is no longer the man he appears to be; he has become the vessel for "Tak," an ancient, malevolent entity unleashed from a nearby mining shaft. As Entragian terrorizes the town, the survivors are thrust into a harrowing fight for their lives. Imprisoned in the local jail, the group must grapple with the terrifying realization that their captor is merely a puppet for a parasitic force that requires human hosts to survive. With the entity capable of jumping between bodies and wreaking havoc, the survivors are forced to confront a growing sense of hopelessness. Amidst the chaos, young David Carver emerges as an unlikely spiritual leader, urging the group to find strength in faith, while Marinville must confront his own troubled past. As the line between survival and sacrifice blurs, the group discovers that the true source of the evil lies deep within the earth.
