DESCRIPTION

In 1920s London, a wave of bizarre, ritualistic murders sends the police force into a tailspin. Detective Inspector Trout and Superintendent Crow are tasked with tracking a killer who is systematically targeting members of a specific surgical team. As the investigation deepens, the authorities uncover a chilling connection: all the victims were involved in a high-stakes operation performed four years prior on the wife of Dr. Anton Phibes. Though Phibes was long presumed dead following a tragic car accident, the evidence suggests he survived, disfigured and fueled by a singular, obsessive need for vengeance. Aided by his mysterious assistant, Vulnavia, the brilliant and monstrous Phibes utilizes his vast fortune, deep knowledge of theology, and mastery of acoustics to orchestrate his retribution. He models his elaborate killings after the ten biblical plagues of Egypt, transforming the city into his personal theater of divine judgment. As the death toll mounts, the police scramble to protect the remaining surgeons, including the chief of the original operation, Dr. Vesalius. With Phibes lurking in the shadows and the threat of further biblical curses looming, the investigators must race against time to stop a man who views himself as an instrument of retribution. This dark, atmospheric thriller explores the destructive power of grief and the terrifying lengths to which a man will go to settle a score.
